Kristen Slaney – a.k.a. Krissy – is a graduate from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Arts in French and Folklore (2016) and from the Dual Canadian and American JD program from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law (J.D.) and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (J.D.) in 2019.
Krissy is a passionate human and animal rights advocate. During her law school experience, she appeared before the Immigration Court as an advocate for immigrants and refugees in Detroit, Michigan, and was president of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. She is also a member of the American Irish Lawyers Association.
As a native Newfoundlander, Krissy may have an accent, but it hasn’t stopped her from acquiring other languages. She lived in France (Saint Pierre-et-Miquelon and Nice) and Ireland (An Cheathrú Rua), where she studied French and Irish Gaelic. Additionally, Krissy has studied Spanish, Latin, and Italian. In her spare time, you can find her playing with her Chihuahua, Eva, taking in a yoga class, or extending her knowledge of craft beer with friends.
